This experimental community radio station is part of Transmission, a venture into the sonic potential of Plymouth which includes Freesound, The Sonic Summer School, a listening station and a resource area.
This project encourages Plymouth citizens to take an active role in the development of our programme. DJs, artists, performers, presenters, musicians and the wider community are all shaping this experimental sonic space. This year the station has been realised with generous support from Deep Blue Sound, the Foyer and all our sponsors. Visitors can see the radio station live in action everyday from 3pm and anyone interested in participating can request to be a guest on one of our shows.
There are many other ways to take part in Transmission: listen to the sonic works exhibited in the galleries, find out more about artists who use sound, play some experimental instruments, or book a place on one of our many workshops. Check out the Workshops page for the Sonic Summer School programme of sound-related workshops for all ages on the Workshops, then Phone 01752 206 114 to reserve your place.
Plymouth Arts Centre is one of the longest established arts centres in the country offering some of the best exhibitions by local, national and international artists.
During these years it has carved a leading role in the cultural life of the city and across Devon and Cornwall, being the principle gallery publicly funded for the contemporary visual arts between Exeter and Penzance. It has a sustained commitment, to provide innovative programming and new work with integrity. Plymouth Arts Centre's programme continues to attract high profile artists and produce high quality exhibitions.
This rich and varied history has created a stimulating and exciting venue to visit, which is truly a part of the cultural heart of Plymouth. Alongside our gallery programme, Plymouth Arts Centre cinema has the only full time screen dedicated to offering art-house and the best ground-breaking independent and foreign films within the city. This unique grouping means that Plymouth remains the only arts organisation of its kind in the region.
